Part Time Middle School Math Instructor

PART-TIME MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH INSTRUCTOR

Fiore Montessori School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic part-time Middle School Math Instructor to join our growing adolescent program. Working with a small cohort of 7th-grade students during the coming school year, the ideal candidate enjoys meeting learners where they are, supporting students at varying levels of readiness, and fostering confidence, independence, critical thinking, and a genuine love of learning through individualized instruction.

This position is expected to require approximately 3–4 hours per week in class over two to three days, plus prep time, with scheduling flexibility based on the needs of the program and the instructor's availability. The role may be particularly appealing to retired educators, engineers, scientists, or other professionals with strong mathematics backgrounds who enjoy working with adolescents in a highly personalized learning environment.

Fiore's adolescent program emphasizes practical application, reasoning, and real-world connections, with instruction centered on active learning rather than technology-dependent approaches. The successful candidate will value a hands-on, discussion-based approach to mathematics, using demonstrations, guided problem solving, and real-world applications to help students develop strong conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning.

Located on more than 4.5 scenic acres just 20 miles outside Washington, D.C., Fiore's unique village-style campus offers exceptional opportunities for hands-on, experiential education. Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field required
• Experience teaching middle school and/or high school mathematics preferred
• Ability to differentiate instruction for students working at varying levels
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Professionalism, integrity, humility, and a collaborative spirit
• Respect for and understanding of adolescent development

Experience with Montessori education is welcome but not required. For the right candidate, there may also be opportunities to contribute to the broader life of the adolescent program in additional capacities.

Compensation

Pay commensurate with education, experience, and responsibilities.
