Hiring Opportunity for an AMI Trained Elementary Assistant Guide
Job Description:
A well-established AMI Aspiring School, just north of Boston, is seeking a warm, thoughtful, and dependable AMI Trained Elementary Assistant Guide to join its Montessori community.
The Elementary Assistant Guide plays a critical role by supporting the Lead Guide in the classrooms, maintaining the prepared environment, and helping foster a classroom culture rooted in independence, curiosity, responsibility, collaboration, and respect for the child.
The ideal candidate is someone who not only appreciates, understands and values the authentic Montessori Elementary pedagogy, but also is interested in personal growth and professional development, while supporting the social, emotional, and intellectual development of children ages 6–12.
Responsibilities:
Supporting the Lead Guide in maintaining a calm, orderly, respectful and inspiring elementary classroom environment
Assisting with the day to day, such as the students’ daily routines, supporting the lessons and the daily transitions, as well as monitoring recess/lunch and various classroom responsibilities
Observing and notating on the children and supporting individual or small-group work under the direction of the Lead Guide
Qualities and Qualifications of Candidate:
A college bachelor’s degree is required
An AMI Elementary 6–12 diploma, or candidates who are sincerely interested in the AMI Elementary training, with the possibility of sponsorship, will also be considered
A deep respect for Montessori philosophy and the developmental needs of the elementary child
A calm, grounded, and joyful presence with children
Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Reliability, professionalism, discretion, and a willingness to support the Lead Guide’s vision
Experience working with elementary-aged children in a Montessori environment is strongly preferred
