Northwoods Montessori School, a nonprofit, AMI-recognized school in Atlanta, Georgia, serving a socioeconomically diverse community, is seeking an AMI Elementary Guide to join our dedicated faculty and supportive school culture.
Serving children from 12 months through 12 years of age, Northwoods has been a cornerstone of Montessori education in the Southeast since opening its doors in 1972—a true gem in the metro-Atlanta community. Northwoods has remained true to upholding Dr. Maria Montessori's principles and approach to education. This dedication is reflected in our faculty and staff, who are committed to ensuring every child receives an authentic Montessori education.
This is a 10-month, salaried position beginning in late July, offering competitive compensation based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package, professional development opportunities, and retirement savings. Regular hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with participation in school events outside of these hours.
Responsibilities
- Assume full responsibility for the 6 to 12 class in accordance with AMI Elementary training and standards, the school’s mission statement, and the Georgia state standards for grades 1 through 6.
- Train, supervise, and provide frequent feedback to one Assistant who will provide organizational support to the teacher and developmental support to the students with guidance from the teacher.
- Create and maintain supportive communication with parents, including parent-teacher conferences three times per year, and parent education throughout the year.
Requirements
- AMI Elementary Diploma and bachelor’s degree
- Elementary classroom experience – 6 to 12 preferred, lower or upper elementary
- Strong spoken and written communication skills
- Alignment with school’s mission statement and culture
- Experience working collaboratively with teachers and assistants
