Hershey Montessori School is seeking a dedicated individual to join our community as the Campus Director for the Huntsburg Campus adolescent program (7th through 12th grade). This individual would ensure the development of an equitable, affirming and just environment attending to social-emotional, academic and developmental needs of our adolescent students.  They would serve as the leader of the Hershey Montessori Huntsburg campus and focus on its best development and growth as an educational institution.

This individual is required to gain a thorough knowledge of the School's mission, vision, and core values, have outstanding organizational and time management abilities, problem-solving skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, resourcefulness, patience, respect, empathy, efficiency, and creativity. They must also be culturally responsive in working with people from different backgrounds. A regard for confidentiality around sensitive issues and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects under the pressure of deadlines is a necessity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees curriculum, the academic schedule, and the boarding student program; supports campus-wide events and the Production & Exchange program
  • Support admissions and enrollment at the Huntsburg campus through enrollment events, initiatives, and admissions processes
  • Cultivate strong relationships with prospective families, students, and faculty and staff
  • Planning, executing, and representing Hershey Montessori School at scheduled events, both school sponsored enrollment events and community engagement events that support marketing efforts
  • Facilitate conflict resolution with students, implementing restorative practices
  • Support all students with IEPs and develop and support SAPs for students with special considerations, in coordination with student advisors and the Head of School
  • Support and evaluate staff on delivery of academic program and professional work and acts as a liaison between staff and the Head of School
  • Facilitate daily staff meetings, beginning and end-of year staff meetings, implementing Sociocratic principles
  • Participate in all Whole School Directors’ meetings and link relevant communications back to the campus staff
  • Participates in necessary committees and groups, including ISACS Steering Committee
  • Communicate and report to the Board of Directors at the behest of the Head of School
  • Participate in continuing education/professional development which may include readings, webinars, affiliate group meetings, in-house professional development and other conferences that may be accessible
  • Write periodic articles, blogs or letters to the parents and/or extended community 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; AMI diploma and/ or M.Ed. or equivalent preferred
  • Five years’ experience in a school leadership position at an adolescent program level
  • Experience with Montessori or other independent schools is highly desirable
  • Strong background in strategic planning and assessing outcomes
  • Attention to detail and an understanding of nuanced school environment situations
  • Excellent cultural competency, willing and able to excel in working with multiple groups of people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, administration, and parents/guardians
  • Possess high energy, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude
  • Collaborative team member

Hershey Montessori School (HMS) is an internationally recognized day and boarding independent school located in Northeast Ohio. Our campus in Concord, Ohio educates children from infancy to 12 years of age. The adolescent campus in Huntsburg, Ohio serves grades 7-12 and has a working farm with barns and a greenhouse, residential housing, indoor and outdoor learning environments, and classroom buildings on 97 acres of predominantly wooded land.
