Northwoods Montessori School, a non-profit AMI-recognized school in Atlanta, Georgia, serving a socio-econimcally diverse community, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of School. Welcoming students from 12 months through 12 years of age, Northwoods has been a cornerstone of Montessori education in the southeast since opening its doors in 1972.

This full-time, 12-month, salaried position offers competitive compensation based on experience, along with an attractive benefits package, professional development opportunities, and retirement savings. Regular hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with participation in school events outside of these hours. 

Providing mission-driven leadership, the Director of School ensures the school’s values and vision are reflected in every aspect of its program. Daily operations are guided with purpose, fostering a culture that aligns with the Northwoods mission and the needs of its community.

The Director of School mentors and supports an experienced and dedicated faculty and staff, creating an environment that fosters each child’s love of learning and personal growth.

Responsibilities

The responsiblities of the Director of School include implementing AMI Montessori pedagogy; supporting enrollment, retention, and recruitment; supervising and evaluating faculty and staff; guiding the school’s budget and finances; overseeing day-to-day operations, including campus beautification and facility maintenance; maintaining AMI Recognition and Georgia Bright from the Start licensing standards, leading the Georgia Accrediting Commission process, and providing ongoing leadership and professional development while fostering supportive relationships that strengthen the Northwoods community. 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of school leadership experience & faculty/staff supervision
  • Collaborative with our faculty, staff, families, and board of directors
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • Marketing experience perferred
  • Knowledge of AMI Recognition standards
