Daycroft School seeks a passionate teacher to co-found a new Montessori middle school serving adolescents (12 to 15 years) in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan, to open in the fall of 2027. The position begins August 2026 with the first-year responsibilities including part-time co-teaching in the upper elementary while assisting with location, design, and syllabus for the middle school.
The ideal candidate is a generalist who is passionate about adolescent development and has experience leading adolescents in project-based learning. Qualifications include a Montessori Adolescent Diploma or an Orientation Certificate, with an interest in sponsorship for taking the full diploma course. The founding teacher will collaborate closely with the Daycroft Board of Trustees and a strong leadership team, including an AMI leader who brings over 40 years of experience, 19 of those years dedicated to working with adolescents.
Daycroft School, established in 1968, is a thriving Montessori school with a growing enrollment, supported by a stable administration and high retention of teachers at the first and second planes. Board governance is strategic and committed to supporting the school’s desire to deepen its Montessori roots. The leadership maintains an intentional approach to opening a middle school with the resources to achieve the integrity of Montessori and a design for sustainability as it grows toward full enrollment of forty-five students.
